Have you heard about the shiny, sleek upcoming 5 Megapixel Samsung mobile phone? The latest Samsung G800 is finally here. The Samsung G800 has been introduced this month, it is going to be the next phenomenon in mobile imaging. The Samsung G800 is an sleek and thin slider cell phone. This cell phone looks like designer styled, the Samsung G800 cam phone has a digicam-like metallic design and features a 5 Megapixel digital camera.
Samsung G800 is definitely not among the smallest phones on the market: even closed it is a solid device almost as big a stand-alone pocket camera and it highly resembles one by its look. With its serious weight it is almost as heavy too, which combined with the chromed frame makes it feel as a nice high-end phone instead of a plastic toy. For this also helps that the lens-cover and a detail on the battery cover are made of brushed aluminum.
The Samsung G800 is also available in all-black variant. It replaces the brushed aluminum pattern with one resembling leather.
This handset is not super lightweight & feels solid to hold as it weighs a total of 134 grams. The G800 is a good size phone which is 18.8mm deep, 51.1mm wide & 101mm high. The Samsung G800 is a 3G HSDPA mobile phone which provides broadband speed technology to this mobile phone. The phone supports Bluetooth® A2DP wireless technology which allows the user to connect wireless to compatible headsets, headphones, computers & printers. The user can use a USB cable to connect to other devices when a Bluetooth® connection is either not available or required by the user. The G800 comes with EDGE & GPRS edge technology which allows the user to enjoy high speed data transfers on their phone. Connecting to the Internet from this highly capable 3G phone could not easier or quicker as the phone comes with a WAP 2.0 Internet browser which supports RSS feedsTheoretical download speeds of up to 7.2 Mbps are possible. Vodafone’s network has 7.2 Mbps HSDPA (3.5G) support. Most other HSDPA mobiles (to date) only support up to 3.6 Mbps download speeds.
Combined with the 2.4-inch screen, using the Web is OK - certainly better than browsing the Web on smaller mobile screens.
Samsung G800 also has a new camera Graphical User Interface which provides the same environment as a digital camera when using the camera function on the phone. An On Screen Display shows various camera indicators in a horizontal preview mode. The large 2.4 inch LCD display is ideal for viewing images. There’s a built-in picture editor, and direct printing to a Pictbridge-compatible printer is supported. High quality video recording is also available, and a built-in video editor is provided too.
Aside from the disappointing battery and a few niggles with the RSS feeder, the G800 performed beautifully. The camera is fabulous and the 3x optical zoom makes a huge difference. As does the xenion flash, which is way more powerful than the LED flashes on previous Samsung models.
The one disappointing aspect of the G800 is the quality of the battery. If you’re only using the phone it’s not a problem, but with these features on offer, that’s highly unlikely.
Samsung G800 handset preview - Mobile Photography
To bad I was not able the shoot some product shots of the camera due to the security label attached to the front side. Samsung G800 specifications learn us that the sensor offers 5 Megapixel resolution. Of course it is not only about the pixels, as we have seen for many years with the digital camera megapixel race. Internal processing software, image processor, pixel quality, sensitivity range and noise, effective flash range, stabilisation technology, etc. that will take the Samsung G800 right into the top of Mobile Photography or drop it like a stone when those features are not well enough developed. As soon as we receive a full production model of we publish a Samsung G800 review.

Mobile TV is a reality today and moving towards mass market. But in order for this “killer application” to reach its full potential, cost-effective means of increasing capacity and introducing innovative new services are necessary. Mobile TV services of the future will be delivered over a combination of unicast and broadcast-capable networks. The Samsung G800 is ready for mobile television by supporting HSDPA connectivity next to the standard GPRS and EDGE. Mobile Television involves bringing TV services to the mobile phones. It combines the services of a mobile phone with television content and represents a logical step both for consumers and operators and content providers. The Samsung G800 is ready to become Samsung’s all-round multimedia player.
